Abstract
This is not a distinct clinical syndrome in itself, but is a physical finding secondaryto facial and cranial maldevelopment1D¢¥. And it is defined as a increase in the distancebetween the medial orbital walls, but differentiated from traumatic telecanthus, pseu dohypertelerism, and simple ocular hypsrtelorism (intercanthal distance is increased but interorbital distance is not changed).
Recent surgical advances, combining an extracranial and intracranial approach, have made possible correction of the deformities of orbital hypertelorism, but many unknown_ pints still remain, particularly as to the eventual possibility of restoring binocular vision. Until now, this surgery has been much more a cosmetic than a functional operation.
We report a true hypertelorism with bifid nose in this paper and brief review of it.
